Manual said don’t be a dick until 1000 miles. So I wasn’t, but tonight I went for a drive to push it over.

Then I drove like a dick. I’m sorry, but fuck everyone who gave me shit for rating acceleration as 8/10. This thing is fast. Is it GT fast? No, but the way it accelerates is crazy. The power is mostly linear, but it is definitely getting peak power at higher RPM. Up to about 4500 RPM it pulls decently, but then it punches you right in the face and goes HARD to redline. I think it might be the overboost thing Ford talks about sometimes? I was trying to watch the boost gauge, it looked like up until 4500 RPM it was putting out around 15 PSI, then it jumped to 20.

Is it the fastest thing I’ve ever driven? No, not by a long shot. But it’s more than fast enough for the streets, and it’s fast where it counts. 0-60? Not that amazing. 30-70? Insanity. That’s where these turbo motors are just so much fun. When you’re transitioning from the feeder to the highway you have so much power your eyes widen and your grin gets stuck. I love it.

Oh, and on my drive I was doing 80 on the turnpike showing average MPG of 31. So it does that too

Oh, also, when you get close to redline the tachometer turns red. It's really cool

Nice! What did you think of the exhaust note while you pushed it? Pretty much every modern turbo is too quiet from the factory, in my opinion.

I’m still 900 miles away from broken in in my new car. I try to be good, but you really need to push the loud pedal to get the damn hemi to make some noise.

The car has the fake sound through speakers deal, and it sounds interesting. I wouldn't say it sounds bad, but at higher RPMs it doesn't sound as good as down low. It's ok. I think an intake will really help the noise, with the windows down you can hear the turbo spool, adding some blowoff noise would be exciting

Gimmicky stuff makes a difference. It's totally unnecessary but it's fun. Like the pony projection lights: stupid feature, but they put a smile on my face.
